Facebook, Twitter and Other Social Media Sites

Filed under: Internet News — Tags: — sketchcorner @ 7:19 am

Growing up in San Francisco, I resisted Facebook, but my sister–who is ten years older than I am with the tattoo to prove it (actually, she wants to use a Laser Tattoo Removal service to get rid of it now)–kept after me until I signed up. I play Scrabble on it, and I don’t do much else, but I do peek in several times a week to see what my family is up to. It feels so immediate. I do not use it that much, but I will not be on my removal list any time soon either. That brings me to Twitter.
I have resisted Twitter, seeing it as another thing to tie you up, to fritter your time away. But if I want to keep up with the world, can I afford to be such a curmudgeon?
So, I think I’ll figure it out. The Twitter website says that, “Twitter is a free service that lets you keep in touch with people through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?” BTW if you need a superb Laser Tattoo Removal San Francisco service then let me suggest this cool resource if you are in the San Francisco Bay area. Alright now back to the main meat:
That sounds pretty straightforward. Even Oprah uses Twitter. And I’ve noticed the nightly news anchors make a point of mentioning their twittering; they want to assure you they’re on top of things.
Evangelista says that experts say those companies that forbid social networking on the job, “could stifle the creativity of employees who are using Twitter, Facebook and other networking sites to help their companies.” Twitter’s website touts its value to businesses, saying that, “Twitter is a communication platform that helps businesses stay connected to their customers. As a business, you can use it to quickly share information with people interested in your company, gather real-time market intelligence and feedback, and build relationships with customers, partners and other people who care about your company.”
Hm-m-m-m. Maybe I should in fact be twittering.

Social Media and Business—A Budding Romance?

Filed under: Internet News — Tags: — sketchcorner @ 11:53 pm

Staying on top of new computer-related technologies that pop up and weave their way into our lives can be fun and exciting, or can seem like yet another thing to tie you up and waste your time. When the personal computer began to revolutionize the world, if you resisted, you were left out of so much in the way of communication, so many advances in conducting business, finances, and so much more, good and bad– but mostly good. I know people who, to this day, say they hate computers. I would rather live without a telephone or television than to live without Internet access. Eventually you will have a technology attorney like you have a personal injury attorney. The San Francisco online news publication, The San Francisco Chronicle, ran an article today, November 7, 2009, written by a staff writer, Benny Evangelista, titled, Social Media Going Corporate. Evangelista writes that at a conference in San Francisco last month, the CEO of Comcast, Brian Roberts, gave credit to an employee for using Twitter to advance the company’s customer service. Evangelista then points out that a survey found that over half of businesses do not permit employees to use social media sites at work. If you need a top san francisco personal injury attorney allow me to suggest this resource, he is top flank.
Seems like it shows a lack of initiative on the side of management not to keep up with the new waves of social change that are having such a great impact on society. In the beginning, many people discounted the significance of the Internet. It’s hard to find anyone today, other than a dusty diehard, who would say the Internet is insignificant.

Online Home Business Jobs Growing Rapidly

Filed under: Internet News — Tags: — sketchcorner @ 7:22 pm

According to a report by the Small Business Research Board, while the overall economy remains in trouble, the growth of online jobs is actually increasing at a rather fast clip. All in all, the home based e-business employee is continuing to profit and there has been a substantial spike in home based online workers of about 133 percent according to the report in question
According to the data, over eighty percent of home Internet based businesses have not been affected by this bad economy we are in. Individuals who have been questioned regarding their home business during the past eighteen to twenty-four months or so have basically stated that they have started their online business due to job insecurity and the unsure economy as their reason for opening an Internet based business from home.
It should also be noted, however, that the International business broker IBFS has warned about world wide web scams for individuals launching their own a home business venture and this includes purchasing web domains, marketing, lead generation, SEO and other things for the web based business. These particular scams may include web business setup and even the amounts claimed to be paid for rendering certain services for online companies that charge to be a part of their home based employees. If you are looking to be matched with a great home business then may I recommend this service. On the whole, the increase in home based Internet businesses include online auctions, web designing and other services, like SEO, which has taken the Internet websites by storm.

Female schools begin Classes on the Web

Filed under: Internet News — sketchcorner @ 7:49 pm

Education has been a real big issue with regards to litigation and the internet in Washington DC as of late. Many an attorney specializes in this niche in Washington DC, in fact. In education related headlines, he Holton Arms School, which is essentially a more than century old school located in Maryland state, is starting a new internet School system for girls learning . All in all, the school thinks that that the girls in question will benefit from the curriculum that is tailored to fit them together with internet related learning. Ah, the world wide web and the classroom. Pretty soon every classroom will have their own domain name lol.
It is kind of similiar to an internet version of boarding schools for teens, except that the teens in this particular case are not really that troubled. According to the the director for technology at the school, there has been research done which shows how girls learn quite differently than boys in general.
Switching gears for a momemnt, if you are in need of a domain name or Washington DC litigation lawyer who can also do web and internet law as well as copywrite, ec-commerce and trademark litigation law, then this particular lawyer may just be for you. Essentially, he went on to state this is something they are going to attempt on the web and that there are some 4 schools collaborating that will allow the four schools to participate in the online learning. The Holton Arms, Harpheth Hall in Nashville, Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut, and Laurel School in Shaker Heights, Ohio will all be a part of this online program. By the way, take a look at St. Pauls Academy if you are looking for Behavior problems boarding schools or maybe even an ADHD boarding schools. They can also help for therapeutic boarding schools and Private schools placement as well. The educators believe that while this curriculum will help the students, they also want to prove that single sex online education works. They believe they are the first of this kind of online classes that is tailored specifically for girl’s education.

Facebook Files Lawsuit Against Spammer

Filed under: Internet News — sketchcorner @ 9:59 pm

According to reports Facebook has filed criminal charges with the U.S. Attorneys Office and a written ruling from U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel in San Jose is expected as early as next week. The case stems from charges Facebook filed against Sanford Wallace that alleges Sanford, along with two other people were using phishing sites or other means to illegally access Facebook accounts. They then allegedly used entry to the accounts to distribute phishing spam through the network.
Facebook counsel asked that Wallace be found in criminal contempt for allegedly continuing to send spam. They also asked for a default judgment when Wallace failed to appear, the judge was prevented from doing this, because Wallace had filed for Chapter 11. Facebook believes Wallace filed for Chapter 11 in an attempt to avoid the default judgment. By the way if you need a good San Jose Criminal Attorney then I would like to recommend this resource.Judge Jeremy Fogal of the U.S. District Court in San Jose did agree with Facebook attorneys that there are grounds for criminal contempt.

Armstrong Exiting Google And Heading over To AOL

Filed under: Internet News — sketchcorner @ 1:08 am

Just got back from Denver after seeing my lawyer over there.Tim Armstrong of the search mammoth Google corp. is exiting that particular outfit and heading over to America Online as that division of the Time Warner conglamorate that has been in mired for several years or so. Generally, revenue from the high profile world wide web firm has been decreasing for the dial up service and workers there are basically thrilled with his coming. To prove that he fully intends to change how things have been going he tore down the glass doors which mandated a key card to go in which divided former CEO’s Randy Falco and Ron Grant. Incientially should you be in Denver and need a copywrite, trademark, internet, corporate business contract or Denver trademark lawyer who also covers Highlands Ranch and is a Centennial probate attorney then you may want to scope out this excellent trademark lawyer overall.
The most latest wave of internet marketing has not made much of a positive difference for the technology and media firm, and while it is still making some money the profits have been falling compared to the billions in annual profits previously. Soon after his arrival he held a big meeting in Dulles, Virginia where he brought in Ted Leonsis who retired from America online several years ago plus AOL co-founder Steve Chase. By the way if you require an office chair might I suggest Sitbetter.com because they are ergonomically sound. All in all, ergonomics are a major part of them, as a whole.
This guy I used to know who used to sell as well as backpack and messenger bags had really nice ones in his office. In fact his whole office was very nice, come to think of it so he must have been moving an awful lot ofbags on the whole.
AOL the dialup service known as America Online saw its peak in 2002 with 26.7 million dialup customers and in 2006 the company made $5.78 billion. In late 2006 is when Falco came to AOL, without Internet experience but had been a media executive.

Internet Company NebuAd goes down

Filed under: Internet News — sketchcorner @ 7:46 pm

I just got back from North Carolina (in my car) to look fo some designer lighting and custom furniture, time to start blogging. The web firm NebuAd has closed their doors after they have faced stiff opposition concerning their custom methods of gathering Internet user’s information. The company, with their office located in Redwood City, was in business as a targeting advertising system which was to track web use for ad that could be made appealing to the interest of web users. It appears that their methods for collecting data had come under scrutiny and the subscribers did not know about their said methods.
At one point the company had over 30 Internet providers using their service, these users later filed a lawsuit for over $5 million dollars. There has also been a request to turn the suit into a class action lawsuit for the thousands of Internet subscribers.
Documents that have been filed with the United States District Court in the Northern District of California by NebuAd states they cease to exist with their closing. By the way if you spend a lot of time on the internet and you decide to obtain a new set of office chairs and other furniture like that it is suggested that you take into account the ergonomic aspects of the chairs. You can find great designer as well as Custom Furniture at this site made in North Carolina as well as Lorts, Leathercraft, designer lighting shabby chic and custom furniture as well. This is particularly true if you send a lot of time on the computer. In general, ergonomics are a major component of office chairs, and there has been a great deal of research into this area recently. For his part, my lawyer who I spoke to recently has some really nice designer lighting and custom furniture at his practice but then again, I suppose that the majority of experienced missouri car accident lawyer actually do so it is not a huge surprise.
Phorm Inc. a British owned firm is having similar problems with Internet users concerned about their privacy. The company has deals with the three largest Internet providers that account for approximately 70 percent of the British broadband market. The Foundation for Information Policy Research in Cambridge, England spokesperson Richard Clayton stated that the prospective partners of the company’s services are irritated with some of the company’s practices.

The trooper got a second radar reading while trying to catch up to the driver to pull him over of 110 miles per hour.By the way if you need a reliable Washington car accident attorney check this firm out.

After Garrett was stopped he told trooper McDonald the reason he was speeding, was because he was late placing a bid on the Internet auction site Ebay prior to the auction ending.

Trooper McDonald arrested Garrett for reckless driving, his vehicle was impounded and he was placed in the King County Jail.
